Amelia is talking up a storm. She has a small repertoire of words that we can understand, and many more that sound like words but we aren’t sure what they mean, yet. When you ask her where something is, she turns her palms up and raises her hands in a questioning gesture. She has been able to fit the blocks through the shape sorter for a couple of weeks now, and can point out the cow and the sheep and the duck in Moo, Baa, La La La when asked. If she wants you to read her a book, she’ll pick it up, hand it to you and then spin around and scoot her bum towards you so she can snuggle up to read it with you.
She is very good at making the sign for light, and points out lampposts, hallway lights, and overhead lights by making the sign. When she hears a truck, she says “vroom, vroom,” even if she can’t see it. If the firetruck drives by while we are in the house, she looks at us to confirm that we, too, heard it. She can walk 8-10 steps in a row, squat down to regain her balance, and stand up again and keep going. Amelia smacks her lips to let us know when she is hungry or thirsty. She loves artichoke.
Last weekend I had a tournament so I left early Saturday morning and returned on Sunday evening. Ian and Amelia had a great time with many adventures and Ian said it was no problem not having mommy around! It was nice for me to get a little break, but of course I missed them while I was away. The weekend also officially marked the end of breastfeeding, since I wasn’t around to do it and we aren’t giving Amelia a bottle. She has tried cow’s milk, but hasn’t really shown an interest or a like for it yet.
We couldn’t imagine that we could ever love something so much.
