baby guitar

So Ian got his guitar fixed recently and today he brought it out to play for Amelia. It reminded me of when my Dad used to play to my brother and I all the time when we were little. I still know all the words to Puff the Magic Dragon because that was one of our favourites to sing (even though everyone always felt sad at the end of the song). Anyway, so here’s a little video of Amelia trying her hand at playing. Ian said that it was pretty amazing to see her just look at the guitar for a while, and then think about touching it, and then she touched it, and then she realised that by touching the strings she could make sounds.

In addition, here’s a cute photo of Amelia reading (a French book, of course). It is the perfect size for her to hold and the “pages” are cloth so she seems to like turning them. She also wants to hold the board books when we read those now, and likes to turn the pages opposite to the flow of the story. Funny.

She was really focused after seeing me play a bit, then I put the guitar in front of her and she seemed to figure out she could make sounds too. The light and the camera distract her a bit in this video but towards the end you can really see her at play.

Lovely moments ! Great to see the look of discovery and pleasure from both the turning of the pages and the strumming of guitar strings!
