Butterflies go free – 2012 edition

This is the fourth time that Amelia and I have been to the Butterflies Go Free exhibit at Montreal’s jardin botanique. We’ve been with my brother and my mom so this time we visited with Amelia’s best friend as well as our friend Julia.

It was quite crowded, but because the organizers decided to separate the night butterflies and the day butterflies into two different rooms this year, it was much less chaotic. And more enjoyable.

It was impossible to get them to all smile and look at the camera at the same time. This was the best shot out of about 20 that I took.

Running up and down the ramp is fun!

One of the beautiful blue butterflies (see below) landed on Amelia’s hair. She wasn’t super thrilled about it but was a great sport while I took some pictures.

*I learned that trying to take photos of small, moving creatures while other small moving creatures need your attention does not make for good photography. Next time I will skip the big camera and just use the iphone.

I think that the pictures of the butterflies are wonderful Alison.

I would love the high def of the green ferny plant with the
butterfly in flight sort of a profile. I think that is spectacular.
Love the one with the same fern but the white and black butterfly on it.
The contrast of textures makes it.

Of course I love seeing the kids in action, too.
