car seat & stroller

Of all the “gadget-y” things you need for a baby, a car seat is probably the most important. They don’t let you leave the hospital without it, so we figured it was about time to go and buy one. One of our friends recommended we go to a place on Parc Ave., right near us. They have a decent selection, and great service. We ended up with a Peg-Perego car seat and matching stroller that you can connect together so you don’t have to take the baby out of the car seat if she is sleeping.
I have heard from various sources that none of the strollers have everything you want. Some don’t have any storage space, some you can’t push with only one hand, some you can’t fold easily, some are too heavy, some are missing this or that feature. So, we figured this was the best option for us. I’ll keep you posted about how it turns out.
At the store, they also were selling a few kinds of slings/wraps. I am intrigued by the blue celery one, but I can’t find too many reviews of it online. I think the company must be new. They’re Canadian, so I am pretty tempted to support them. And the carrier is easy to use (I tried it) and looks like it’d be pretty snug for the baby. If anyone has tried it and likes/hates it, please let me know!
We also watched a video by the “Happiest Baby on the Block” doctor. I don’t know if he cut out all the babies for whom his technique didn’t work, but man, it was pretty impressive to see a screaming baby calm down in 1 second in the video.
We have heard positive things about his method, and it does look like it works, at least on the video.
We also managed to go to one of our favourite restaurants for dinner on Saturday night. I don’t anticipate being back there for a long time, so it was nice to be able to enjoy ourselves (and the delicious food) before the baby comes.
