Training early in the day is supposed to be good for athletes that are “in shape.” I imagine that for some (read: most) people, the thought of running around so early may not be that appealing. And although I do think of myself as a “morning” person, running at 6:45 am does seem to be [...]

It was a packed sports weekend. First we saw the Habs thrash the Thrashers on Sat night. Good game, Huet played great (if Souray hadn’t scored on his own net, Huet would have had a shut-out) and the Atlanta goalie had some really nice saves too. Plus they honoured Serge Savard by retiring #18 to [...]

It’s almost tangible in this video, by none other than my fantastic brother. Despite the wetness, everyone’s raring to go at Step Up, hour 1.
Whew! Step up is over. I’m proud to report that team “that felt good” aka Ian & I successfully accomplished our goal of 360 sets of stairs in 24 hours. In fact, we far surpassed this goal (numbers to come shortly) if you include the last-minute addition of Mr. Wavestotle to our crew.
As always, my [...]

I’m not convinced I’m ready this year for Step Up. I think because I know how much pain it brings…it is a little less “exciting” and a little more: “damn, this is going to hurt.” Anyway, my colleague at work emailed me this yesterday, which was found while searching for news. Very cool.
I’ve been working [...]

when it rains, it pours.
Following Canadian Nationals, Ian & I will be running some stairs. for 24 hours. Plenty of the kids from back in the ‘hood will be there, as well as ultimate folk and other crazies. For more info on how you can run 15 sets of stairs an hour for 24 hours, [...]

Well, once again it has been forever. Maybe I have no time (read: make no time) to post because I spend all day working with words; manipulating, re-writing, tweaking. Or, maybe I’m just lazy. Or maybe it is a mix of both.
In any event, here I am. It’s almost August, and time for an Ultimate [...]
This very interesting article explains how lactic acid buildup is actually a GOOD thing. I’ve heard mumblings about this for a while, but this is the first complete article I’ve read explaining how lactic acid is beneficial for you. Bring on the pain!
I “officially” started stair training yesterday for this event. Luckily running stairs is good for ultimate training too. Went for a run with some of the storm ladies on the Mtn and then ran three sets of stairs when I got to them (about 15 mins into run). I expected to be more sore today, [...]
I never read A Wrinkle in Time when I was a kid. Ian had it on his amazon “wishlist” so I bought it the other day (the boxed set of 4 “time” books). I’ve so far finished 3 of the 4 books. I am not surprised I didn’t read them when I was younger. They [...]
