Training early in the day is supposed to be good for athletes that are “in shape.” I imagine that for some (read: most) people, the thought of running around so early may not be that appealing. And although I do think of myself as a “morning” person, running at 6:45 am does seem to be a little on the early side.
Nonetheless, a friend & I tested it out this morning, as we went for a run from 6:45-7:45 on the mountain. It was definitely quiet (unlike running last Saturday, when it was a zoo). It was pretty dark when we started, but warmed up and brightened considerably. After about 10 minutes of feeling sluggish, the run started to feel pretty good. I’m not sure we’ll make a habit of this, but it isn’t a horrible time of day to squeeze in a workout.
In other news, Huet rocked the house yet again by only allowing 1 goal in the shootout against Florida. Ian gives me a hard time about wanting to see who the 3 stars are for each game, but I like to know who gets singled out for praise. I particularly like it when someone who hasn’t scored gets chosen.
I finished The Secret River. There were some very interesting parts, and reading it while worlds were taking place in Australia seems apropos. I didn’t “love” the story or the writing, although both were decent. The characters weren’t all one-dimensional, which made the read more interesting, but I definitely wasn’t so drawn in that I couldn’t put the book down.
