A very last-minute decision found us on the beach in Miami on Friday afternoon. We stayed at the famous Fontainebleau, which was worth it if only for the kids’ pool and the delicious Italian restaurant Scarpetta. With only three full days down south, we didn’t bother renting a car. Instead we opted to take the city bus to Jungle Island one morning, and spent the rest of the time either on the beach or at the kids’ pool at the hotel.
I didn’t take too many pictures with the “good” camera — not enough time for anything on such a short trip, except learning how to dunk your head under water. Both Amelia and Clara were more than happy to jump into the pool after some practice getting comfortable with being in the water. However, neither girl was very keen on swimming in the ocean. Miami beach was just too rough for them to easily go in and out of the waves. As Clara said at one point “No like ocean water.” Ian and I, however, found it warm and inviting. Could have stayed in for hours.
