Well, we finally got the H1N1 vaccine. And by “we” I mean Amelia and I. Ian, apparently, has to wait until Dec 7. Although judging by the lack of crowds today, I bet they open it up to more people sooner than Dec.
I had a hard time deciding whether to get non-adjuvanted or adjuvanted for both Amelia and I. In the end Amelia got the adjuvanted and I got the non-adjuvanted, as recommended. Tough call about whether to take a risk with the preservative in the non-adjuvanted or the risk of the adjuvant that hasn’t had a lot of testing.
Were I not pregnant, I doubt I would have gotten the vaccine. I have never gotten the regular flu vaccine, even the last time I was pregnant. But, it just seemed like the risks were higher this time around. Anyway, a contentious issue for many, but in the end it has to be a personal decision.
I did a lot of reading on vaccines when I was trying to decide about H1N1, so I will post some if the links when I get a chance.
Hopefully Amelia won’t get a fever or other symptoms from this vaccine.
PS: I curse you, WordPress 2 app for the iPhone. You don’t work any better than the original. I still get the \n\n errors on every hard return.
Just getting caught up here – I had to scroll back and find the entry where you mentioned you were pregnant. Congratulations! Two under two is apparently only REALLY hard until they start playing together and then things get a little easier.
This whole vaccine thing has be in knots. I actually hate it when anyone asks us about it because we – after MUCH discussion – decided not to get it. The Mister has been sick with the swine flu for weeks and since Moira and I have been exposed and were only mildly sick we don’t want to risk being exposed/possibly having had it and then getting the vaccine. It really is such a personal issue.
