Halloween

Amelia was a pumpkin for Halloween. I was going to make a costume but the fates conspired against me so luckily we managed to find a cute one on Friday afternoon. She wore her costume in five-minute increments on Saturday but wasn’t super keen on it. Once she saw all the kids coming to the door dressed in costumes, however, she happily put hers on and wore it for about an hour. We stood on the porch for a while and she got to check out all the other kids, and then we took a quick stroll around the neighbourhood to see other people’s decorations. We had quite a few kids and were out of candy by 6:30. Next year I guess we’ll have to buy more.

The highlight of Amelia’s night was getting to see the fire truck up close. The firemen drove down our street and stopped periodically to hand out candy. Big hit with all the kids.

Meanwhile, Amelia is getting very good at knowing her body parts. If you ask her, she can point to her head, nose, eye, neck, toes, belly button and knees. We are working on elbow, which she thinks is hilarious. She can point to Mommy or Daddy’s elbow no problem, and she can even say it — it comes out as “belllbo” — but she can’t quite figure out how to point to her own yet. She also has a little trouble pointing to her ears, although she knows where they are.
