Over the past few days I’ve noticed that Amelia is watching me more closely and trying to emulate what I am doing. In particular, if I am doing something with Clara she will go and get one of her dolls and try to do the same thing. If Clara is crying or fussing, for example, she will tell me her doll is crying too. Usually she says something along the lines of “two babies crying.”
Earlier in the week I was sitting in the rocking chair feeding Clara and Amelia sat down in her rocking chair right next to me. She was holding one of her dolls and told me she was “giving the baby boobies.” Then when Amelia decided she had finished feeding her baby, she said “all done boobies.” Then she stood up and said “snap snap” as if she were reattaching the straps of her bra (my breastfeeding bras do make a “snap snap” noise).
Meanwhile, Clara has decided that she can walk. I remember Amelia wanting to stand up all the time when she was about Clara’s age, but as this video shows, Amelia didn’t really take steps on her own before 6 months (plus Dada is providing quite a bit of help). Maybe Clara thinks she can walk because she watches Amelia run and jump in front of her all day long. She really needs no encouragement or help to lift up her feet and take steps.
:-) Where did she learned the word “boobies” ???
I noticed her watching you and carrying her doll around etc
when you were in the country. Guess she has taken it to
another level.
