The first ultimate team I played on was called the Mad Cows. This was back in the day when there were only 20 league teams in Montreal. I’m not sure if there was some sort of “cow” theme back then, but I do remember the best team in the league also had cow-like jerseys. Anyway, this is not a post about ultimate, but about what we did this weekend.
My parents have cows in their backyard at the country place. Literally. We used to have forest, but now it is a pasture for the cows. Furry cows. Anyway, this weekend we took Amelia to visit said cows. It was our first trip anywhere, and she held up like a champ. We drove down during her naptime, and back during her naptime, so she slept practically the whole time we were in the car. We also brought her basinette as her bed (which she hasn’t slept in for several weeks) but she had no problem sleeping through the night in it and having two naps in it as well.
I fear I may not have taken any photos of Amelia looking at the cows. But, I can tell you that she was definitely fascinated. My dad and I also took Amelia on a walk through the woods, so she got to see a stream, a little waterfall, a covered bridge and plenty of forest flora.
Before we left on Saturday I went for a run. My calf held up remarkably well, considering I decided to run up the mountain. My route to and from the mountain totalled about 5 km, plus the path up to the stairs and back. It is surprising how easy it is to do the stairs when you aren’t pregnant. Overall I figure I probably did about 8 kms. It wasn’t fantastic, but it just felt good to get moving outside. The weather is supposed to be nicer this week so we’re looking forward to more time outside!
