In the past 24 hours, Amelia has figured out how to clap. And how to cluck her tongue. I am sure later today she’ll be clapping and clucking her tongue at the same time. She has been very vocal in the last few days, practicing saying “ma” and “ba” and “da.” It seems like “mama” is becoming more directed at me rather than at nothing in particular. And she has also started pointing at objects. Earlier in the week she began by reaching with one hand or the other to point at something, all fingers spread wide. But in the past few days she’s figured out how to point with her index finger of her left hand — maybe she’ll be a lefty after all (she can’t do it with her right hand yet).
The fun is trying to figure out what she’s pointing at and then name it for her. Some things are easy to determine, such as when we get back from a walk and she points at the doorbell because she wants to try to press the button so she can hear it ring. Other times it is pretty tough to guess what object she is trying to touch or, more likely, put in her mouth.
She loves crawling over legs, arms, mats or other obstacles and more recently has decided she wants to crawl under and through things. Foodwise, Amelia gobbles up blueberries faster than you can give them to her. I think she could eat blueberries, yogourt, cheese and bread at every meal and be happy. But, we’ve also tried couscous, quinoa, pasta with sauce, filet mignon, sliced avacado, nectarines, french toast, pancakes, pizza crust, string beans and many other things and Amelia seems to like all of it.
