In the NYTimes today, there is a blog post that discusses a recent article on parenting.com about how Moms are often mad at Dads. I haven’t been a mom very long, but I couldn’t help nodding (and laughing) as I was reading the news. Here is a snippet from parenting.com:
“According to Parenting‘s nationally representative survey of more than 1,000 mothers on MomConnection, an online panel of moms, the majority of us confess to feeling anger at surprising levels. We love our husbands — but we’re mad that we spend more mental energy on the details of parenting. We’re mad that having children has turned our lives upside down much more than theirs. We’re mad that these guys, who can manage businesses or keep track of thousands of pieces of sports trivia, can be clueless when it comes to what our kids are eating and what supplies they need for school. And more than anything else, we’re mad that they get more time to themselves than we do.”
Apparently (according to the article) more than 54 percent of moms with children under 1 get mad at their husbands at least once a week. Hm. You’d have to ask Ian, but I am sure I get mad at him over something dumb at least that often. Then again, it could be worse, right? It could be every day, or hour, or I could be calling him at work every 10 minutes to bitch about something. I think he should count himself lucky :)
