Amelia had her 1-year doctor’s appointment on Tuesday. She is now 18.7 pounds and about 28.2 inches, which puts her in the 10% percentile for both height and weight. At least she’s consistent! Once again the doctor thought there was nothing to worry about with her being so small because she’s so active, sleeps well, and loves eating.
As a reward for doing so well with getting three vaccinations, I bought Amelia her own little couch. We’ve been eying it for a long time and since she loves climbing up and down on things, I figured she might just get a kick out of having an Amelia-sized couch. So far so good — although she does try to stand on it and climb over the edges.
Today after we went to Petit Gym and had lunch, Amelia spent some time in the living room practicing falling down. She tumbles all over the place at Petit Gym, but it isn’t really intentional. However, at home she was spinning in a circle and then purposely falling down and saying “boom” over and over. And then she’d giggle.
With Amelia able to occupy herself for longer and longer stretches, I’ve been getting to do more and more cooking. I still don’t like having to shop, but I am enjoying throwing things together and seeing what turns out. I’ve been making plenty of different kinds of soup, and Amelia seems to love anything that has green veggies in it. She’s not a huge fan of squash/carrot/sweet potato soups, for some reason, but loves cream of tomato. I’ve also made stew, meatloaf and homemade tomato sauce in the past week. If only the leftovers actually lasted longer….
