So far the time change has seemed to work in our favour with Amelia sleeping until 7:30 am, having an hour and a half nap this afternoon from about 2-3:30 pm, and going to bed about 7 pm. At the last time change in the fall, I read somewhere that it is ideal to move bedtime by 15-minute increments so that kids have an easier time adjusting. We’ll see if we make it back to Amelia’s pre-time change 6:30 pm bedtime or if 7 pm will become the new “summer” norm. I am sure it is tough to want to go to sleep when it is still light out. I remember not understanding why I couldn’t keep playing outside after supper when I was a kid.
Meanwhile, the upside of parenting solo, with Ian at a week-long conference, is that I’m forced to take more videos of Amelia so Ian can see what she’s doing. Here’s a little video of our afternoon walk and trip to the local ice cream store with Babu. She’s getting spoiled this week with Dada out of town.
If you listen closely to the first clip you’ll hear her say “road” and “down” because I stepped into the road to get around her to take the video. She knows that the road is for cars and Mama should not be walking there and so she’s letting me know. In the last clip, she’s visiting with a little owl figurine that is on one of our neighbour’s lawns. Almost as soon as we get outside she says “hoo, hoo, hoo,” meaning she wants to go see the owl.
