Spring!

Amelia must have really worn herself out at Petit Gym today because she fell asleep in her high chair while putting food in her mouth during lunch. I didn’t really believe it could happen but it did, so I put her down for a nap early and then we went to the park. A friend of mine recently wrote to me to say that her daughter, who is a little older than Amelia, doesn’t like to get dirty and they have to encourage her to do things like splash in puddles.

Not Amelia. In one of the funnier moments of today’s excursion, Amelia found a branch with some buds from one of the trees in the park. After saying “flower” for a few seconds, she headed to the nearest puddle, dipped it in the water and then put it in her mouth to taste it. I was not fast enough to get it on camera (or to stop her before it made it into her mouth). But I did get manage to get a little of her playing in the mud before my phone ran out of juice. She got much, much muddier than the video shows. Luckily I brought spare clothes so she wouldn’t freeze on the way home from the park.

Her word of today was “shadow.” She spent a lot of time while she was on the swing watching her shadow and saying “shadow.” She also kept patting the swing with her hands every time I stopped pushing her to remind me to push, all the while saying “push” and “swing” and “Mimi.”

Enjoy.

This video makes me want to:
    1) go find a puddle and jump around in it!
    2) play with mud, especially dropping rocks in it!
    3) buy myself a puffy vest with heart on it!
