Swimmy

Ian and I both spent a ton of time at the pool in the town where we grew up. We swam on swimteam, spent afternoons at public swim tormenting the lifeguards, and then became lifeguards ourselves. But since we stopped working at the pool, we somehow gave up swimming and haven’t spent much time at pools since then. Now that we have a small child, however, the local pool looks very enticing!

We took Amelia to the pool on Sunday morning for the first time. The water was a little too chilly for her to enjoy being in it, but she liked splashing in the puddles on the deck and watching the other kids swim in the pool. Guess it is time to get a membership.

In other weekend adventures, on Saturday we visited the Ormstown Fair and saw animals galore. There were pigs, horses, cows, goats, bunnies, guinea pigs, chickens, ducks, alpacas, and many different baby animals too. The highlight (for us) was the 600-pound pig and her piglets. Amelia seemed to really like the big horses and the alpacas.

We think Amelia’s first word is “cat.” She says it pretty much every time she sees our cat. Then she tries to talk to her by meowing. She’s been doing it for a couple of weeks now. In other developments, Amelia has started smacking her lips together when she knows she is going to be getting some food and this is often accompanied by “mmmmmm.” She also can put her hands together in front of her and lift them over her head. We say “SUPER AMELIA” every time she does it and she laughs — quite a character.

Video and pics to come.
