We went to our last wedding of the summer this weekend. We actually have another scheduled, but it is in mid-August and in BC, so it just seems like a little bit too far of a trek for me at around 8.5 months. Plus there is no doubt we will still be settling into the new abode and trying to get used to living in a house vs. a condo.
Lots of friends have been by for visits to the new house recently, and everyone seems to approve. Once we get some minor electrical (hopefully minor, anyway) issues taken care of, we can then move onto painting, doing the basement floor (there’s carpet now, covering nice hardwood floors) and then moving in. I would estimate the move-in time somewhere around the first or second week of August, at this point.
It’s going to be a big job, but I think it might be made easier if we bring boxes of stuff over to the house each time we go by to paint or visit or fix things. That way come the “official” moving day (no set date yet) we’ll have some of the stuff already over there.
So, back to the weekend:
The bride is half Indian, half Japanese, and the groom is part Irish, American and Canadian. It was quite multicultural, in no small part because it was held at a Chinese restaurant. And, surprisingly, the speeches were all excellent. Normally Ian and don’t really love speeches at weddings (hence the ban at our wedding) but everyone who spoke at this wedding was entertaining and not too long-winded. Plus we got to catch up with some old friends who no longer live in Montreal.
It’s nice to have time to do things on the weekend that aren’t all about ultimate.
